What exactly is this? A mermale, a merman or a mermaster. "Its certainly a mermale" says Nikias, the sculptor of this uniquely mythical oddity.

"The first and original Mermaid described in Greek legend' explains Nikias, "was a female ancient greek mythological creature, that according to legend was the incarnation of the dead sister of Alexander the Great. Quite a terrifying and obnoxious 'battle-axe' - that always had to have it her way" he says suggestively.

"Whenever she encoutered a ship at sea, she would whisper the question to it's sailors...'Does Alexander the Great live?'". The sailors in response had to cleverly calm her by telling her that her brother was alive and still conquering the world. Those who didn't know the 'correct' answer and spoke the truth, were spurred into a terrible storm and shipwrecked by her rage.

Hence this 'spoiled' character with a terrible attitude that simply-can't-take-no-for-an-answer has kept an undefined place in conciousness that comes out in all of us from time to time. "That's something else about 'real' mermaids", jokes Nikias. "Apart from swimming around half naked for a living, they also have a real attitude problem - but they're still quite beloved despite this. That's why I realised that there must be room for competition in Mermalia. The Mer-male is equally well kept and too, he simply can't take no for an answer.
